  • When does time start?
Posted by Michelle Loving at 2018-02-20 16:21:34
was looking at the Obstacle course rubric and it states "All vehicles shall be touching the wall on the surface for the start" Can you please clarify this? Our team has started competitions different ways so we want to clarify. When does the timer start, when the ROV is placed in the water or when the team member removes the hands from the ROV? What is considered "surface" must it be completely setting on the water or can it be just at the surface, against the wall, with hands holding it until it is released? ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- RESPONSE- For nationals, competitors may not hold or support the vehicle by hand. The vehicle must be on the surface touching the wall under its own power before the judges will start the timer.

After we go through the obstacle course the first time, do we have to surface and then go back through? ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- RESPONSE- yes, surfacing is required.
  • Re-bar in obstacle course

The course had directions for re-bar as a piece in the course but gave no indication of where it was supposed to go. Are we to assume this is in the long pipe to keep the course in place? ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- RESPONSE- the rebar goes in the base, we place it in the cross legs.
  • Water depth?

From a prior comment it looks like the obstacle course will be in 10' of water. I wanted to see if that is current information. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- RESPONSE- the pool this year is 5-7 feet deep
  • Obstacle Course Placement
Posted by Walt Silva at 2017-12-14 09:35:29
Will the obstacle courses sit on the bottom of the pool or will they be hung from the top and kept in place using ropes? ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- RESPONSE- the course will be on the floor

Posted by margaret spigner at 2017-05-16 09:00:33
Our propeller fell off but we were still able to make it through the obstacle course. Will we be penalized for something falling off of our perch?----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- RESPONSE- no

Can you confirm the distance from the pool wall to the first hoop on this course? We have heard different distances of 10 and 15 feet. Would like to have the team practice with what they will encounter at nationals. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- RESPONSE- 5'
