Formufit 3-way elbows

Formufit 3-way elbows

These are more expensive then just plain sch40 1/2 pvc elbows readily available from Lowe's or Home depot. Can we use the less expensive version or is there a weight consideration? The cubes seem heavy with the regular elbows but not sure if there is a difference?

Any thoughts?

We purchased the Formufit elbows through Amazon.com and they were only a couple cents more expensive then the standard Schedule 40 elbows from Lowes.  They are "furniture grade" PVC and are noticeably thinner and lighter than the regular elbows.

Even with the Formufit elbows, the cubes were too heavy for the ROV to lift in their original configuration.  SeaPerch has already removed the metal studs from the cubes, and added foam backer rod to help the weight.  We are adding the backer rod to ours next week, so we'll see what happens...
